About the Role
Laing O'Rourke is seeking an experienced Hybrid Manual/Automation Tester/Engineer to join our dynamic team in Brisbane. This role primarily focuses on manual testing, with opportunities to contribute to the automation testing initiative for custom applications. You will play a key role in ensuring the quality and functionality of software deliverables across various systems.

 

Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Application Development Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing end-to-end defect lifecycle across multiple systems.
  • Defining, documenting, and executing comprehensive test plans, cases, and scenarios.
  • Collaborating closely with Business Analysts and Developers to translate business requirements into effective test cases.
  • Designing test cases with traceability to business requirements.
  • Executing test cycles, including development testing, regression testing, System Integration Testing (SIT), and Production Verification Testing (PVT).
  • Creating User Acceptance Testing (UAT) scenarios and scripts to enable business users to validate functional requirements.
  • Providing test progress reports, highlighting risks and issues that may impact timelines.

About You

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in software testing, with a strong emphasis on manual testing and exposure to automation testing.
  • Solid knowledge of test methodologies and QA processes.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in manual testing, including performance, security, or mobile testing (desirable).
  • Proven ability to design and execute functional and regression test suites using C# and SQL.
  • Strong time management and organisational skills.
  • Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), with experience in Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid methodologies preferred.
  • Experience with defect tracking tools such as Jira and XRay.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and manage conflicting demands, with strong problem-solving skills and adaptability in fast-paced environments.
  • Experience with SharePoint, PowerBI, PowerApps, and Azure (desirable, with Azure experience being highly regarded).
