About The Position

Select Plant Australia is currently recruiting for an experienced Yard Hand. This role will be located at our new Select Plant Hire – Sunshine West Depot on a full-time basis.

You will be responsible for the safe working of the yard and stores area. Reporting to the workshop supervisor, you will coordinate the incoming and outgoing deliveries, traffic, and general storage of plant and equipment. With varying internal and external clients, you will be pivotal to the smooth running of the depot, and a valued contributor to our highly experienced maintenance team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Store receivals, checking of deliveries.  
  • Identifying damage and/or incorrect supply of goods.
  • Completing delivery dockets for outgoing goods, plant, and equipment.
  • Packing and loading of goods for internal and external customers.
  • Inventory management, stock-taking and tracking of workshop consumables.
  • Loading and unloading of goods from internal and external transport carriers.
  • Assisting various tradespersons.
  • Assisting with dropping off and picking up items/materials.
  • General yard duties, housekeeping and waste management.  
  • Carry out prestart checks on plant and equipment.
  • Report machinery faults and safety concerns.
  • Accurately complete paperwork as required by stores and workshop team.
  • Monitor yard access, coordinating safe and efficient traffic flow, and minimise congestion.

About You

The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience in a similar role in a logistics or stores environment. You will be safety orientated, motivated, reliable, and have excellent communication skills. We are looking for a self-starter, who takes pride and ownership in their work.

Minimum Requirements:

To be considered for the role, you'll need to hold the minimum requirements below:

  • Unrestricted Australian Working Rights
  • Demonstrated experience in similar role.
  • Australian driver's licence – C Class (minimum).
  • Australian Construction Induction Card (Blue/White Card).
  • Valid Forklift ticket
  • Moderate computer literacy
  • Physically Fit  
  • Willingness to learn and progress to add value to the Select Operations support team.

  • HR Licence
  • Forklift Verification of Competency (less than 2 years old)
  • Mechanically minded
  • Load Restraint Awareness Training
  • Chain of Responsibility awareness
  • Certificate: Loading and Unloading of Plant and Equipment
