About the role

Laing O’Rourke is currently recruiting a National Quality Manager for our Rail Operations Business Unit.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop the Quality Management Plan and ensure all requirements within the plan are established, implemented, maintained and communicated and that responsibilities for implementing the plan are understood by the project team.
  • Review all client quality specifications to ensure all QA/QC project deliverables required under the contract are captured and processes are in place to ensure they are achieved.
  • Develop and revise project-specific quality procedures and forms, as required in the project specifications.
  • Establish Quality objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the project.
  • Provide input into the project risk reviews to ensure all quality risks are identified, analysed and mitigated.
  • Develop, issue and manage the implementation of the Project Audit Schedule.
  • Manage the Corrective Action, Defect and Non-Conformance Tracking Registers to ensure actions are implemented and closed out.
  • Ensure that non-conformances are documented, analysed, closed-out and reported to senior management in line with Client and LOR reporting requirements.
  • Conduct Training / Toolbox talks on project Quality risks, events and processes.
  • Review the project’s performance and implement quality improvement initiatives to maintain a culture of continuous improvement within the project
  • Assist Engineers with reviewing Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and Inspection and Test Records (ITRs) to ensure all inspection and testing requirements have been identified.

 

About you

  • A minimum of 7–10 years’ construction / engineering project experience
  • Sound knowledge of Australian Standards (e.g. ISO 9001:2015), Industry Codes and Procedures
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Previous experience with Project Document Management Systems
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Cert of Attainment in Quality Management or equivalent
  • Business or engineering degree (desirable)
  • Lead Auditor Qualification.
