About the opportunity

The Victorian Government is upgrading the Eastern Freeway with new express lanes, new traffic management technology and Melbourne’s first dedicated busway. These changes will slash travel times and improve public transport in Melbourne’s east.

Laing O’Rourke is part of the Eastern Freeway – Burke to Tram Alliance with Major Road Projects Victoria, Symal, Arcadis and WSP. Our scope of work includes a new interchange connecting the Eastern Freeway to the North East Link tunnels, major road and bridge upgrades between Burke Road and Tram Road, smart traffic management technology upgrades and new noise protection to meet Victoria’s toughest traffic noise standards. The local community will also benefit from new and upgraded walking and cycling connections, upgrades to Koonung Creek Reserve and revitalised wetlands and open spaces.

 

About the role

We are currently seeking an Interface Manager to join us on the Eastern Freeway – Burke to Tram Alliance. Reporting directly to the head of Delivery Interface & Disruptions, you will take charge of the implementation of an interface approach to manage the connection between the Alliance and key stakeholders.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the daily interface of key areas of the Alliance which require a dedicated focus on high/key risks while interfacing with stakeholders in obtaining approvals and aligning on outcomes.
  • Manage the interface of the design and construction teams with these key stakeholders and foster a collaborative environment focused on achieving best for project outcomes
  • Manage and maintain interface reporting; identifying opportunities for further enhancement
  • Manage and motivate a small team, develop and mentor capacity and capability to cultivate best practice
  • Manage ongoing land management functions with land owners
  • Work with the stakeholders to resolve asset liability and responsibility at handover
  • Work through agreements with Service Authorities, such as – agreement to work close to services/ relocate/ or alter asset management
  • Establish, track and maintain key interface registers, approval registers and works registers
  • Maintain and implement interface plans.

 

About you

  • Degree in an Engineering, Project Management or Science related disciplines  preferred but not necessary.
  • 7-10 years project management experience across infrastructure projects would be highly advantageous
  • Proven experience in managing complex interfaces across multidiscipline teams
