About the role

Laing O’Rourke is currently seeking an experienced Finance Services Officer to join our high-performing team based in Sydney or Brisbane.

The purpose of this role is to proactively support the Finance Services function by performing accounts/accounting tasks, reporting & analysis as required and deliver internal/external services to ensure compliance with all company policies, internal controls, and procedures.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Project bank account management, bank receipting & reconciliation, time management & reporting, internal/external audit requests and other accounting tasks as assigned within advised deadlines.
  • Support line manager with reporting & analysis for operational insights, business improvement, function workflow management and legislative reporting within agreed deadlines e.g., Payment Times Reporting, Finance Services function reporting.
  • Assist in on-boarding new hires to understand our business and system processes.
  • Assist team members and employees with investigations and queries related to the assigned function.
  • Support the delivery of other tasks including transition of new tasks into the Finance Services function, business improvement projects and escalate to line manager as necessary.
  • Support in reviewing aging in-progress items pending resolution by team member and resolving aging balance sheet line items.
  • Ensure a co-operative and open knowledge sharing relationship is developed and maintained with other internal stakeholders. 

About you

  • Certificate IV or Diploma in Business Administration or equivalent.
  • 2-3 years’ experience in accounting with basic understanding of accounting and finance processes, systems, and controls.
  • Experience with ERP systems.
  • Ideally have worked in medium - large finance functions or a shared services environment.
