About the role

We are currently seeking a HR Advisor for a major rail infrastructure project based south of the river in Perth, Western Australia. Reporting to the project People Lead, this permanent role will see you providing guidance and advice to employees and their managers on all HR related matters.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Guide, coach and support leaders with engagement, retention and change management. 
  • Provide advice on complex employment relations issues such as performance management, grievances and disciplinary issues. 
  • Provide leadership and support for our People strategic initiatives and annual and periodic activities including the delivery of performance review and talent management activities using an existing framework.
  • Work in close collaboration with the project leadership team to identify, manage and provide advice on employee and industrial relations issues and risks.
  • Work with supervisors to manage Right of Entry (ROE) processes.
  • Conduct workplace investigations in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Regularly review and update the employee and industrial relations risk management framework.
  • Monitor and manage compliance with the project’s approved Workplace Relations Management Plan which you will also review and update as required from time to time.
  • Provide training to supervisors and others regarding employee and industrial relations matters including but not limited to right of entry and industrial action.

 

About you

  • An intermediate level of experience in a generalist Human Resources or Industrial Relations role with experience gained in a Project Construction or Heavy Industry environment, and experience liaising with all levels of management.
  • A tertiary qualification in Human Resource Management or Employee and Industrial Relations.
  • Understanding of employee and industrial relations and experience dealing with workers, subcontractors and unions.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills with an ability to communicate effectively (both written and oral) with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Expert understanding of the current industrial relations framework along with strong technical knowledge of relevant workplace legislation.
  • Negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • An ability to work well in a team and autonomously.
  • Be proactive in your approach with a solution focused mindset.
