About the role

We are currently seeking a Systems and Safety Assurance Manager. This role will initially be based in our Brisbane head office and will move to site in 2027.


Key responsibilities

Reporting into the Systems Integration and Assurance Lead, you will be responsible for:

 

  • Leading systems engineering and safety assurance for the project, ensuring effective implementation of the Systems Assurance Plan, Systems Engineering Management Plan, and requirements management processes/tools (e.g., DOORS).

  • Driving all safety assurance activities, including HAZID, development of safety controls, preparation and review of safety documentation, Safety Assurance Statements/Reports, and validation of hazard logs.

  • Preparing for and leading Systems Safety Working Groups, ensuring issues, risks, actions, and decisions are clearly presented, tracked, and resolved.

  • Supporting the development of the overarching Wave Safety Case, contributing evidence, analyses, and lifecycle documentation.

  • Assuring and maintaining configurable baselines, ensuring changes are controlled, properly assessed, tracked, and aligned with verification and validation requirements.

  • Supporting project change management, ensuring systems engineering and safety assurance impacts are assessed, communicated, and integrated across the project lifecycle.

  • Ensuring safety and systems requirements are embedded into design, construction, and commissioning, participating in design safety reviews and overseeing verification, validation, and change control processes.

  • Acting as the primary point of contact for systems engineering and safety assurance, collaborating with clients, partners, subcontractors, and internal teams, while supporting audits, compliance activities, and continuous improvement

 


About you

  • Degree qualified in Engineering or Science.

  • Masters qualified providing a technical or leadership extension to base degree (preferred).

  • Professionally chartered with a recognised professional institution.

  • Knowledge of risk-based safety assurance.

  • Knowledge of legislation, standards and guidance, processes and practices related to systems engineering and safety management for rail infrastructure projects.

  • Knowledge of verification and validation techniques and the application of international safety standards such as IEC15288, IEC61508, EN50126, EN50129 and ‘Yellow Book’.
