About the opportunity

The Victorian Government is upgrading the Eastern Freeway with new express lanes, new traffic management technology and Melbourne’s first dedicated busway. These changes will slash travel times and improve public transport in Melbourne’s east.

Laing O’Rourke is part of the Eastern Freeway – Burke to Tram Alliance with Major Road Projects Victoria, Symal, Arcadis and WSP. Our scope of work includes a new interchange connecting the Eastern Freeway to the North East Link tunnels, major road and bridge upgrades between Burke Road and Tram Road, smart traffic management technology upgrades and new noise protection to meet Victoria’s toughest traffic noise standards. The local community will also benefit from new and upgraded walking and cycling connections, upgrades to Koonung Creek Reserve and revitalised wetlands and open spaces.

About the role

We are currently seeking a Senior People Advisor to join us on the Eastern Freeway – Burke to Tram Alliance.

This is your opportunity to drive and optimise the People, Capability and Inclusion strategy by developing and implementing people operation initiatives and processes which foster a positive and productive work environment to support the project's success and sustainability.

Key responsibilities

  • Work closely with senior management to understand project goals and develop HR strategies that support these goals.
  • Provide strategic HR guidance and leadership to support the objectives of the project.
  • Develop and implement HR strategies that enhance organisational effectiveness and efficiency
  • Support the creation and implementation of all People processes, procedures and initiatives, including Employee Benefits, Campaigns and Engagement initiatives
  • Deliver and support the development and Implementation of employee engagement and retention strategies
  • Facilitate corrective dispute resolution and complaint management processes, conducting workplace investigations for complex people matters
  • Implement alliance policies and practices to ensure compliance with legislation, industry trends and continued support to the project
  • ​Analyze HR data and metrics to provide insights and support decision-making
  • ​Utilize data-driven approaches to improve HR processes and outcomes 
  • Develop and implement strategies for talent mapping, succession planning and annual review processes
  • ​Optimize individual and team performance, through developing and implementing the annual people calendar and cycle contributing to overall project success. 

About you

  • You will have a relevant tertiary qualification in HR or a related field
  • HR Generalist exposure, across change management and partnering with Senior Leaders
  • Strong relationship building skills alongside a collaborative mindset
