About the role

Laing O’Rourke is looking for a Project Director to join our Rail Operations business in Perth, WA. This is a great opportunity to join a growing part of the business and have full operational delivery responsibility for Rail Operations in Western Australia.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Achievement of Rail Operations safety, compliance and environmental targets with  zero tolerance for non conformance.
  • Identify organisation improvements that provide increased levels of safety, production and utilisation. 
  • Act for and on behalf of the Laing O’Rourke in discussions with clients and their agents, sub-contractors, site personnel, suppliers and the general public.
  • Develop and implement the business units annual budget and resource plans.
  • Promote and develop technology and innovation and provide technical support.
  • Liaise with the client and on-site client representatives to ensure client satisfaction requirements are adequately met throughout the project lifecycle, ensure prompt notification of matters in dispute to the Business Unit Leader.
  • Ensure optimum utilisation of personnel and equipment at each site, and the security of material and equipment.

 

About you

  • A degree in Engineering (Civil / Mechanical / Electrical) or Construction Management or equivalent
  • Understanding of design, problem solving capabilities, commercial acumen 
  • Ability to communicate on all levels – Directors to operatives
  • Minimum 5 years proven leadership of large multi discipline, geographically spread, operational delivery teams
  • Minimum 10 years rail experience and knowledge of rail construction compliance
  • Knowledge of the Australian Construction market and ideally the rail market
  • Extensive experience of stakeholder engagement
  • Strategic Planning, Budget and resource planning experience
