About the role

We are currently seeking a Head of Strategy based in Sydney. This role offers great career prospects with a privately-owned tier 1 constructor and international engineering enterprise.

The Head of Strategy plays a pivotal role in shaping and driving the strategic direction of the organisation. This position is responsible for initiating and coordinating discussions regarding the company's vision, strategic direction, developing comprehensive models and hub/business strategies, and analysing data to draw conclusions about social, technological, economic, and political developments that impact the organisation. The Head of Strategy collaborates closely with various departments to ensure alignment and effective execution of strategic initiatives, ultimately guiding the organisation towards sustainable growth and innovation.


Key responsibilities

  • Lead the development of corporate strategy, applying functional expertise to test the viability of the strategy and contributing creative ideas and insights to support the strategy formation process.
  • Develop and refine strategies that drive business growth, competitive advantage and profit growth, ensuring that the organisation remains ahead of market trends and competitors.
  • Analyse and interpret data and documents to draw conclusions about social, technological, economic, and political developments and their consequences for the company.
  • Work closely with various departments, including marketing, IT, and customer service, and engage with internal and external stakeholders to develop constructive, transparent relationships and ensure their input is considered in strategic decisions.
  • Provide support in the delivery of strategic initiatives, ensuring that projects are executed effectively and align with the overall strategic goals of the organisation.
  • Monitor the performance of strategic initiatives, using key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess progress and make necessary adjustments.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging employees to identify and implement ways to enhance processes and achieve better outcomes.


About you

  • 10 - 15 years of work experience, preferably in a combination of top tier management consulting and corporate in-house strategy.
  • Experience in Construction or Engineering preferred; alternatively industrial goods experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or a related field. An MBA is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Proficiency in analysing complex data and drawing meaningful insights to inform strategic decisions.
  • Proficiency in identifying and managing risks associated with strategic initiatives.
  • Deep understanding of the construction industry and market trends.
