The business delivers projects as diverse as the environments in which they are built, from high security military bases and major rail transport infrastructure projects, through to landmark buildings at the transport interface. Laing O’Rourke owns one of Australia’s largest plant and equipment hire company called Select Plant Australia. We know the right culture combined with purposeful technology will help us meet demand and deliver certainty for our clients. That’s the #powerofexperience.

About the role

Laing O’Rourke has recently been appointed as Managing Contractor for the Initial Works and Early Works package of Suburban Rail Loop; the huge package of works includes preparing sites for the launch of tunnel boring machines, moving and protecting underground services, ground improvement, geotechnical investigations and roads modifications for this city-shaping project.

We are currently seeking a Ground Penetration Permit (GPP) Coordinator to join our team on the Suburban Rail Loop Early and Initial Works Project. This is your opportunity to join a privately-owned Tier 1 constructor and International Engineering Enterprise.

Key responsibilities

  • Reviewing submitted Ground Penetration Permits (GPP’s) to ensure accuracy of information
  • Conducting site walks with relevant personnel, identifying existing utility assets, reviewing critical control measures and sign off of GPP with Responsible Person
  • Liaison with stakeholders (e.g. USP’s) to ensure compliance to their standards
  • Ensuring that newly installed utilities are correctly recorded daily and updated on all GPP’s in use
  • Administering of the Ground Penetration Permit process on site, working closely with engineers and supervisors in charge of work groups
  • Auditing of the implementation of the GPP process (field and desktop) for compliance
  • Liaising with the project management team to achieve project objectives and coordinate and review the scopes of work and direct personnel accordingly.

About you

As the suitable candidate for this role, you will have substantial experience in a similar role on infrastructure or rail projects. Furthermore, you will have a demonstrable commitment to project safety and excellent interpersonal and written skills.
