About the opportunity

The Victorian Government is upgrading the Eastern Freeway with new express lanes, new traffic management technology and Melbourne’s first dedicated busway. These changes will slash travel times and improve public transport in Melbourne’s east.

Laing O’Rourke is part of the Eastern Freeway – Burke to Tram Alliance with Major Road Projects Victoria, Symal, Arcadis and WSP. Our scope of work includes a new interchange connecting the Eastern Freeway to the North East Link tunnels, major road and bridge upgrades between Burke Road and Tram Road, smart traffic management technology upgrades and new noise protection to meet Victoria’s toughest traffic noise standards. The local community will also benefit from new and upgraded walking and cycling connections, upgrades to Koonung Creek Reserve and revitalised wetlands and open spaces.

 

About the role

We are currently seeking a Communications and Administration Assistant (Part-time) to join us on the Eastern Freeway – Burke to Tram Alliance. To support general administration requirements of the Communications and Community Engagement team, including procurement needs and resident relocation process.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of daily complaint reports and monthly audit documentation, including maintaining the Environmental Complaints Register
  • Support procurement and financial processes by coordinating supplier quotes, orders, invoices, and monthly reconciliations
  • Manage third-party property damage claims and community relocation logistics, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting in Monday.com
  • Coordinate communications tasks, including uploading materials to TeamBinder/SharePoint and managing eDM distribution lists
  • Provide logistical support for community engagement activities while ensuring compliance with safety procedures and guidelines

 

About you

  • Qualifications in communications, customer service, or a related field
  • 3–5 years’ experience in administration, complaint management, customer service, or communications, ideally in a project delivery environment
  • Strong data management skills – proficient in Consultation Manager (Monday.com experience preferred)
  • Well-developed customer service skills and general financial literacy.
  • Ability to implement policies and procedures in accordance with contractual requirements
  • Advanced interpersonal, written and verbal skills.
