About the role

Laing O’Rourke’s Rail Division is seeking a Signalling Senior Project Manager to expand our railway signalling capability. Based in Seven Hills, NSW, you will work as part of a multi skilled team to work on various rail projects within NSW and Australia.

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading the conversion and design elements of a project to ensure the delivery of the overall project scope within the time, cost, quality and safety requirements.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Provide support to the PL to ensure client expectations are managed. This will include establishment of a project brief, understanding the development drivers, establishing a cost plan to meet agreed budget, risk identification and mitigation strategies.
  • Day to day management of all authorities and utilities interactions across the various phases of the project from Masterplan, pre DA, DA approval and CC preparation.
  • Develop with the PL and PEL an overall design procurement strategy to ensure consultants selected truly understand the key project drivers and can respond accordingly.
  • Engage cost planners as required to develop an overall cost plan for the project then work with them to develop the design in accordance with the project budget.
  • Support the PL in developing an overall conversion program including project issues that relate to revenue, the client, authorities, design, procurement and delivery of the project.
  • Identify and understand key risks and opportunities in all aspects of the project to optimise Laing O’Rourke position.
  • Ensure all works are completed in accordance with the client quality requirements and Australian standards / codes.
  • Prepare the overall project client reporting documentation in a PCG format and attend PCG meetings. For internal Laing O’Rourke reporting, prepare and present monthly conversion reports tracking against budgets, program and outputs. During the delivery phase maintain the responsibility for reporting against all aspects of design, including time and cost.

 

About you

  • Exposure to managing teams for delivery phase of construction.
  • Experience managing Signalling and Communication construction projects as well as managing contractors.
  • Degree in Engineering (Civil/Mechanical/Electrical) or Construction Management or equivalent.
  • Understanding of design, problem-solving capabilities, commercial acumen.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Rail Signalling preferred.
  • Ability to communicate on all levels – Directors to operatives.
