About the role

We are currently seeking a Cost Manager to join our Rail Operations team based in Laverton North, VIC.

This permanent role offers great career prospects with a privately owned tier 1 constructor and international engineering enterprise.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain project cost control function, WBS, cost management processes, and progress measurement.
  • Configure and utilize cost management software (e.g., PRISM G2) for data entry, reporting, and integration.
  • Coordinate monthly cost processes: accruals, actuals, forecasts, variance analysis, trend monitoring.
  • Produce comprehensive cost reports with detailed analysis for stakeholders.
  • Manage change management processes, tracking changes and cost implications.
  • Collaborate on risk management, identifying, assessing, and mitigating project risks.
  • Troubleshoot data inconsistencies, reconcile discrepancies, ensure accurate data models and reports.
  • Optimize cost control processes, leveraging best practices and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with project teams, aligning cost control activities with project objectives.

 

About you

  • Experience in cost controls for engineering, construction, and capital works projects.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, interpreting complex data and providing insights.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills, presenting financial information to stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in cost management software (e.g., PRISM G2), Excel, and data visualization tools.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and best practices.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Collaborative team player with strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Advanced skills in the below would be advantageous:
    • PRISM G2 or equivalent Cost Management System
    • MS 365 (mainly Excel)
    • MS Power Platform
