About Select Plant Australia

Select Plant Australia is one of the largest Specialist Plant Hire service providers in Australia, playing an integral role in the delivery of a wide variety of innovative, high-quality construction projects as part of the Laing O'Rourke Group. Our primary driver is to guarantee the provision of the highest quality plant and associated services to Laing O'Rourke construction projects and the wider market.

Select Plant Australia provides a full service offering through its seven major categories: Cranes and Lifting Solutions, General Plant, Heavy Plant, Site Solutions (Buildings and Accommodation), Specialist Rail, Sustainability and Innovation, and Vehicles.

As Laing O'Rourke has grown into a $6 billion engineering enterprise dedicated to challenging and changing the face of construction worldwide, Select Plant Australia has mirrored the growth of the parent company, servicing a larger portfolio of projects, both in numbers and complexity. Select Plant Australia is the only total solutions provider within the plant industry and continues to grow and maintain one of the broadest plant ranges and capabilities within its global markets.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced National Communications Advisor to lead and elevate Select’s internal and external communications. This role suits a strategic communicator who protects reputation, shapes perception and presents complex stories with clarity and impact.

Working closely with senior leaders and key stakeholders, you will play a critical role in positioning Select as a trusted and capable industry leader. You will take ownership of high impact communications, including executive announcements, corporate reporting and award submissions that reflect Select’s capability, commitment to delivery and the strength of our culture.

Your work will influence how Select communicates with employees, stakeholders and customers across Australia. You will bring discipline to our messaging, confidence to our storytelling and consistency to how our brand shows up nationally.

This is a hands-on role for someone who takes ownership, adapts quickly and stays focused under pressure. You understand site environments, respect the pace of construction and know that strong communication plays a critical role in delivering projects on time.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and delivery of internal and external communications initiatives that support Select’s strategic priorities
  • Deliver high quality communications, including strategic messaging, announcements and campaign content
  • Manage Select’s external presence across digital and social channels, ensuring consistency, relevance and measurable impact
  • Plan and support corporate events, sponsorships and key engagements that strengthen relationships and brand visibility
  • Drive brand consistency and alignment across all touchpoints, working closely with internal teams and international counterparts
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen Select’s reputation and continuously improve how our brand shows up in the market

You will have

  • Two to three years’ experience delivering clear, practical communication across community, stakeholder or corporate environments
  • Experience working within construction or infrastructure settings, with an understanding of site-based operations and delivery pressures, site experience is desirable but not essential
  • A tertiary qualification in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, or the ability to develop capability quickly
