About the role

We are currently seeking an Accountant to join our dynamic team based in North Sydney. The purpose of this role is to support the Finance Manager and Finance General Manager in the Corporate Finance function ensuring accuracy and integrity of financials and maintaining compliance with accounting standard and regulations and to provide quality accounting services to Laing O’Rourke Business Units and projects

 

Key responsibilities

  • Review and prepare month-end journals for proportional consolidation of joint ventures and alliances
  • Review and update monthly project forecast to ensure alignment with the business plan and process
  • Assist with various accounting assessment and treatments in preparation of year end audit and disclosures
  • Prepare and reconcile various balance sheet accounts
  • Prepare and review journal entries including accruals, prepayments, consolidation elimination, one-off large transactions
  • Perform monthly/quarterly corporate overhead analysis – investigation and commentary on actual versus budgeted expenditure and liaison with Functional Heads
  • Assist with preparation of annual budget for Corporate overheads
  • Liaise with and build working relationships with Business Units, Joint Ventures & Alliances, Site Staff, other Corporate Overhead functions, Accounts Payable and Payroll teams;
  • Identify process gap and assist with process improvement/innovation/automation
  • Ad-hoc tasks as assigned from time to time

About you

  • Intermediate Excel skills
  • TM1 experience preferable
  • Technical Accounting Knowledge preferable
  • CA/CPA or working towards
  • 1-2 years accounting experience in a commercial environment
  • Construction industry experience preferable
  • Audit of construction entities experience is a plus
