About the opportunity

The Victorian Government is upgrading the Eastern Freeway with new express lanes, new traffic management technology and Melbourne’s first dedicated busway. These changes will slash travel times and improve public transport in Melbourne’s east.

Laing O’Rourke is part of the Eastern Freeway – Burke to Tram Alliance with Major Road Projects Victoria, Symal, Arcadis and WSP. Our scope of work includes a new interchange connecting the Eastern Freeway to the North East Link tunnels, major road and bridge upgrades between Burke Road and Tram Road, smart traffic management technology upgrades and new noise protection to meet Victoria’s toughest traffic noise standards. The local community will also benefit from new and upgraded walking and cycling connections, upgrades to Koonung Creek Reserve and revitalised wetlands and open spaces.

 

About the role

We are currently seeking a Planner to join us on the Eastern Freeway – Burke to Tram Alliance.

This is your opportunity to provide and implement support to the planning & project controls process and best practice
on the project. 

Key responsibilities

  • ​Compliance with Process & Best Practice
  • Maintenance of programme and other time related material
  • Contribution to the production of robust Project Controls and accurate reporting and forecasting
  • Contribute to short-term and long-term planning activities
  • Support of planning activates prior and during scheduled occupations
  • Execute time related issues in the Contract
  • Assist in the development of programmes throughout all project stages
  • Integrate 3D CAD models & programmes
  • Maintain programme and other time related material that ensure that the sequence and timing of all operations considered / optimised for the successful project completion within the required time constraints
  • Understand, communicate the sequence of activities that are critical for the delivery of
    the project; and the consequences of not completing other planned activities
  • Implementation of robust Project Controls and accurate reporting and forecasting

About you

  • Solid experience in Project Planning & Scheduling on large-scale construction projects.
  • Existing knowledge of construction techniques, methodologies, and processes
  • Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management skills
  • Tertiary or Trade Qualifications in Construction, Engineering, Science, Quantity Surveying and/or Project/Construction Management
