About the role

We are currently seeking a HSE Governance Manager to join our Corporate HSE Governance and Assurance Team. This position will be integral in improving safety performance by developing, implementing, and maintaining the Laing O’Rourke Health, Safety and Environmental Management System for legislative compliance and continuous improvement across the business.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain and continuously improve the Health, Safety and Environmental Management System to support the Rethinking Safety through inclusion and wellbeing principles, while ensuring it meets third party accreditation, legislative requirements and best practices.
  • Conduct and/or facilitate audits and assurance activities in accordance with the governance program to ensure the HSE systems and requirements are implemented, effective, and in accordance with legislative, regulatory and corporate governance requirements.
  • Coach and mentor project teams to ensure high level of understanding and implementation of Health, Safety and Environmental management systems.
  • Support project and office teams with assurance and governance activities.
  • Participate in and support projects in third party accreditation audits including ISO45001 and OFSC.

About you

  • Relevant Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related discipline.
  • Experience in Construction or other High Risk related Industry.
  • Advanced skills in safety leadership, relationship-building and communication, the ability to manage your own time, work both autonomously and as part of safety function.
  • Experience in designing and continually improving HSE management systems including associated management system software and platforms.
  • You will bring skills in Auditing, Reporting and Risk Management and strong knowledge of Safety and Environmental legislation.
  • Experience with ISO45001 and OFSC third party accreditation audits desirable.
  • You will bring appreciation and interest in applying a different safety approach and actively explore initiatives which boost the capacity of people and organisations to drive a strong safety culture.
