About the role

We are seeking a proactive and collaborative National Health and Safety Advisor to join our high performing Select Plant Australia team based out of our Seven Hills, NSW depot (with occasional interstate travel).

In this role, you will be a trusted, embedded partner to our operations nationally connecting overarching health & safety strategy directly to frontline delivery across our workshops, yards, and project sites. You won’t just be monitoring compliance; you’ll be on the ground empowering our teams to control fatal & severe risks, championing the practical adoption and continuous improvement of our Integrated Management System, and driving a positive, proactive safety culture.

Key responsibilities

  • Operational Business Partnering: Partner closely with operational leaders and frontline teams across workshops, yards, and project sites—providing pragmatic, solutions-focused advice that helps teams manage risk effectively and keep work moving safely.
  • Critical Risk Mastery: Support dynamic risk assessments, work planning reviews, and safe systems of work, maintaining a proactive focus on controlling fatal and severe risks.
  • Two-Way System Enablement: Assist regional and national teams in embedding our Integrated Management System (IMS), actively validating frontline feedback to ensure systems remain streamlined, practical, and fit for purpose.
  • Proactive Performance & Insights: Maintain a genuine "finger on the pulse" across operations by pairing site engagement with performance trends and inspection data, transforming insights into targeted support and safety improvements.
  • Assurance & Verification: Conduct meaningful workplace inspections, control verifications, and audits to evaluate compliance and ensure critical risk controls are performing as intended.
  • Learning-Focused Investigations: Support incident and event investigations using structured methodologies (e.g., ICAM) to uncover underlying causes, share operational learnings, and drive effective corrective actions.
  • Capability & Culture Building: Deliver engaging toolbox talks, inductions, and targeted training initiatives that build genuine safety awareness, capability, and ownership across the workforce.
  • Supply Chain Governance: Support the onboarding, review, and assurance of supply chain partners, verifying on-site compliance with our health and safety standards.
  • Injury Support & Wellbeing: Partner with operational leaders, People teams, and Workers' Compensation specialists to support early intervention, injury management, and positive return-to-work outcomes.

About you

  • Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety, with further qualifications desirable.
  • 3 – 5 years experience in a HSEQ-related position
  • Experience in medium-high risk industries
  • Experience in construction / heavy industry/ infrastructure / transport / or similar, an advantage.
  • Knowledge of high-risk activities within workshop, transport and construction environments, including mobile plant, hazardous energy sources, working at heights and Chain of Responsibility requirements.
  • Experience supporting inspections, audits, incident investigations and corrective action management.
