About the Role   

Select Plant Australia is one of the largest Specialist Plant Hire service providers in Australia, playing an integral role in the delivery of a wide variety of innovative, high-quality construction projects. Our primary driver is to guarantee the provision of the highest quality plant and associated services to construction projects and the wider market.

The purpose of this role is to take ownership of a national asset portfolio and set the direction for its future performance. You will be responsible for leading investment, maintenance, redeployment and disposal decisions that deliver lasting business value. Build stronger lifecycle planning and provide insights that enable confident, evidence-based decisions. Additionally, champion improvement initiatives that increase asset availability, productivity and returns.

Key responsibilities 

Asset Strategy and Lifecycle Management

  • Develop and implement the asset strategy and capital investment roadmap.
  • Oversee the full asset lifecycle, including investment, onboarding, maintenance, redeployment and disposal.

Asset Performance and Reliability

  • Monitor asset availability, utilisation, reliability and whole-of-life performance.
  • Identify underperforming assets and lead appropriate corrective action.
  • Apply critical analysis and leverage performance insights to determine future asset performance and maintenance requirements

Commercial and Financial Management

  • Lead capital planning, asset investment prioritisation and lifecycle cost management.
  • Assess asset economics, including utilisation, operating costs, return on investment and disposal value.
  • Develop business cases for investment into current asset base or to support an increase in future fleet capabilities.

Governance, Risk and Compliance

  • Accountable for ensuring assets comply with legislative, regulatory, accreditation and internal governance requirements.
  • Maintain effective controls for high-risk plant and equipment.

Customer, Supplier and Stakeholder Management

  • Partner with Operations, Finance, HSE, Commercial, Sales and Transformation teams on asset priorities.
  • Maintain strategic relationships with OEMs, suppliers, regulators and industry partners.
  • Identify, anticipate and develop strategies to position the business to meet future customer and client requirements.

Leadership and Team Capability

  • Lead and develop asset management specialists and technical capability.
  • Set clear accountabilities, technical standards and performance expectations.
  • Identify, develop and lead initiatives that set the industry benchmark for asset management.

 

About you 

  • Tertiary qualification in engineering, asset management, construction management, business, commerce or a related discipline, supported by substantial senior leadership experience in asset-intensive industries.
  • Relevant formal training, certification or demonstrated executive accountability for workplace health and safety, enterprise risk and regulatory compliance associated with high-risk plant and equipment.
  • Current Australian driver licence and willingness and capacity to travel regularly to operational sites and partner locations as required.
  • Proven success setting and executing enterprise asset strategy, capital plans and investment roadmaps
  • Strong commercial and financial leadership experience
  • A strong record of improving asset availability, utilisation, reliability and whole-of-life value
  • Deep working knowledge of the legislative, regulatory, certification and governance obligations applying to high-risk plant and equipment
  • Experience establishing enterprise asset governance, standards, performance frameworks and decision rights that clarify accountability and enable consistent execution across operational and corporate functions.
  • Extensive experience building and governing strategic partnerships with OEMs, suppliers, technical service providers, regulators, industry bodies and key customers
